Patricia Apollonia Kotero (born Patricia Apollonia Kotero) is an American actor, singer, and former model. She is best known as the star of Prince's 1984 Purple Rain film and lead singer of the girl group Apollonia 6 The actor and singer christened Apollonia by Prince and became one of the many female performers in the 1980s to benefit from her association with the Purple One. Born Patricia Kotero in Santa Monica California in 1959 her career began as a model actress in the late '70s with a role on the TV show CHiPS. In 1984, she was chosen to play the lead female lead in Prince's Purple Rain. During that time he changed his name. Also, she replaced Vanity and the trio Vanity 6 for the role. They performed as a trio in the film with the name Apollonia 6 Sex Shooter on the soundtrack made a tiny success for the trio, but as Prince's duet partner in Take Me with You she had more success.
